Sallah-Mat Festival
A Celebration of merry making and festivities of the Tri-People of the Municipality celebrated every 29th day of December of every year as part of the grandest celebration of the town’s foundation anniversary. The Street Dancing event is being dubbed as SALLAH-MAT Dance Festival.
“Sala” – means a dance but is appropriate for the native of Matalam honoring their Ilocano heritage.
“Allah” – is the Islam God whose influence in the whole Matalam is great considering that almost of the native are muslims.
“Mat” – first syllable of the town’s name is simply a spice to complete the coind words.
